Product Care

Proper care helps your Samsonite luggage last longer, look better and perform at its best trip after trip. In this section, you’ll find simple tips on cleaning, drying and storing your products, so you can keep them in great condition and ready for your next journey.

How do I clean the exterior of my luggage?

  1. Clean your luggage with a soft cloth and warm water with mild soap. Make sure the cloth is only slightly damp so water does not get inside your case, and avoid cleaners that contain alcohol, as these may damage the shell.
  2. Pay extra attention to touchpoints such as handles, locks, the wheel handle and zipper pullers, again using a lightly dampened cloth so moisture does not seep into the luggage.
  3. Rinse off any soap residue with a clean, damp cloth and then dry the exterior thoroughly with a soft, dry cloth.
  4. Let your luggage air dry completely before storing it in a cool, dry place.
  5. When you are travelling, you can use disinfectant wipes on touchpoints like handles, locks and pullers, but do not use alcohol-based products directly on the shell of your luggage.

How do I clean the fixed interior of my luggage?

  1. Wipe the interior with a soft cloth and warm water with a little mild soap. Avoid scrubbing too hard to prevent discolouration.
  2. Rinse any soap residue off with a clean, damp cloth and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.
  3. Let your luggage air dry completely before storing it in a cool, dry place.

How do I clean the removable interior of my luggage?

  1. Carefully remove the inner components and the lining of your luggage.
  2. Machine wash the interior lining at a maximum of 30°. Use a delicate or handwash program and do not tumble dry. If you wish to iron it, choose a low temperature suitable for synthetic or delicate textiles.
  3. Make sure all components and the lining are completely dry before attaching them again.
  4. Store your suitcase in a cool, dry place.

Is my product water-resistant?

Most Samsonite products are water‑repellent, but they are not fully waterproof. This means they can handle light rain or splashes, but they are not designed for heavy rain, full submersion or long exposure to moisture. Any damage caused by water is not covered by our warranty.

How do I use zipped cases?

To protect your suitcase, always unzip the case fully before opening or packing it. Partially opened zippers can be put under too much tension, which may cause the zipper teeth or track to warp over time.

Can I put my backpack in the washing machine?

No, it is not recommended to put your backpack or other travel bags in the washing machine, as this can damage the materials, coatings, and overall performance of the fabric. To keep the fabric in good condition, do not machine wash, tumble dry, dry clean, iron, or bleach your backpack or travel bags.

Dirt can be carefully removed with a soft cloth and lukewarm water, and if needed you can use a small amount of mild, pH‑neutral detergent to spot clean. After cleaning, let the backpack air dry completely before storing or using it again.
